Lejeune School Board meets to discuss issues
The Camp Lejeune school board is an advisory board chosen from the parents of DODEA students. Camp Lejeune and all DODEA school boards function differently than other school boards. In the DODEA Administrative Instruction 1358.01, it is stated that they “may participate in the development and oversight of educational policies, procedures, and programs for the DODEA school and advise on issues impacting the effective operation of the DODEA school or the DODEA school system.”
The school board holds public meetings four times a year and meets with the principals once a month to mention issues that may have been brought up by parents and/or students that support the school’s community. An example of this would be the flashing crosswalk signs on Stone Street for students walking home or around the area, providing for a safer environment for the community.
The School Board consists of the Community Superintendent and one member for each seven schools, leaving seven members total.
