Harriotte B. Smith Library, More than just books
Base Library

Libraries offer more than just books—they provide a quiet space for studying, taking exams, and engaging in family/friend events! Harriotte B. Smith, located at 1401 West Rd near the MCX, is a local gem with a mission to serve the community.
The kind ladies working there aim to increase the library’s popularity among youth. One of their initiatives is a monthly teen group, though attendance is currently small. This group helps host events for families and expands the library's reputation. They brainstorm creative crafts and events to promote the library. The next meeting will be held in the library’s multipurpose room on April 1 from 1800 to 1850.
Some upcoming library events include
Teen Board Game Bash on March 14 from 1730 to 2000, a
Family Lego Day on March 15 from 1000 - 1300 and a 1700 –1800
Chocolate Tasting on March 21!!
Those are just a few of many events available at the library. You can find the full event schedule at https://lejeunenewriver.usmc-mccs.org/marine-family-support/libraries.
Please note that registration on the website is required to participate in some events. As libraries become less utilized in the age of online resources, it’s important to support these spaces that foster community connection. With a little help, we can work together to make the library an even more vibrant and valuable resource for everyone.
