Grade 8 students from Brewster Middle School join LHS students for an orientation of the High School

February 24, LHS hosted its annual 8th Grade Orientation, where Brewster Middle School students get a tour of LHS to help them prepare for their upcoming transition to high school. Visiting the high school for the first time, they filled the bustling hallways with excitement and curiosity. “It’s always fun to see their enthusiasm about their new school. I feel like they asked great questions,” said, LHS Counselor Autumn Campbell.

Guided tours, led by Student2Student members, introduced the prospective students to their future classrooms, the cafeteria buzzing with activity, and the various clubs and sports that await them. The prospect of a new beginning ignites a sense of independence as they envision the friendships, challenges, and growth that high school will bring.

A visit like this helps to not only ease the stress about starting a new and bigger school, but also sparks their enthusiasm for the adventures in their academic journey. Current LHS freshman Paige G had this advice to give, “Do your work and don’t worry about other people’s opinions of you.”
